Default Re: My First Look at the CJ's

Well let me say this about the new vs. old cars in Stock. I've been looking very hard at putting our 69 Fairlane Cobra back together to compete in Stock. All I need to do to make our car legal is build a legal engine. No big deal right? Now the question is what do I need to do to be competitive in Stock with a 40 year old set up that has been run through the mill by NHRA over the years. So my dilema is do I spend $15,000 or so on a competitive engine to put in a 40 year old car with 117" wb. Or do I build a new CJ clone and be competitive right out of the gate? To me this car has put a fire under me to make a move into Stock knowing I've got a strut front end a 3 link which is basically a 4 link style rear end with coil over springs. Then I have the option of a 5 speed over a 4 speed. To me its a no brainer just money. I would really like to know more on how to get the CJ parts from Ford to build a clone if anybody knows anything (Kenny) drop me a PM.

Thanks,

Kris Rachford
