Got so tired of getting rip off by the local cummins/onan dealer that I bought my own sevice manual here is what it says for a code 27
#1 Disconnect gen connector J3/P3 and check for electrical continuity across pins p3-1 and p3-2 replace the generrator stator assembly if ciruit is open
#2 Disconnect controller connector j2/p2 [black, inboard] and check for electrical continuity across leads j3-1-p2-7 and j3-2-p2-8 replace either lead if open
#3 Repace controller a1
