Re: 427 Cougar Eliminator?
I used to own a pair of 68 Cougar GT-E's with the 427 engine. I had an all original red one that I sold to a fellow in San Antonio, TX a few years ago.
The other one was the last 427 Ford product made. It was made in July, 68. The 427's were replaced by the 428CJ's in the GT-E starting in April, 68. However, my car was the only 427 made with ram air and it also had the two speed rear end. I think the rear end is what held the order up and let it go by with the 427 SO engine. I believe it was Alex (Moneymaker) that told me he knew a little history about my car and that it was a factory mule, maybe.
Anyway, I sold it a few years ago for enough to buy a 69 drag pack GT-500 and thought I did well. Now, I really regret selling the Cougar although it is having a restoration done to it by someone that really appreciates what it is.
