Jeff,
II attended the 1971 NHRA Nationals at Indy, and took my camera (wonder of wonders.) The first car I took a picture of was a 1968 Mustang fastback Stocker that had a 427 (not a 428CJ) in it. Denny Reed was with me, and he raced a 428 '68 fastback at the time, and he wanted a copy of that picture because he said it was a rare option, and that was the only one he'd ever seen.

Now, I can't find that picture. $#@^&*@^%$!!!!!!

But, they DID exist.... a few, anyway. It was a hydraulic-lifter engine, according to Denny. Not a particularly good choice as a race car,, he said at the time.
