Joe , adding the 3rd clutch disc to the intermediate pack may not slow you down . You may not have enough points of contact/clutch suface area and is a possible answer as to why you are burning them up or driving through the clutch pack . I like Mikes idea on the bench test with pressure regulators . Or at lest fluid psi gage on the trans case to make shore you got the pressure you need . Its not enough clutch or not enough pressure .Good luck Joe let us know what the fit was . Ken R
