Dwight,

NHRA lists all the wagons in '65 as 2s. There were 3-seat wagons in '64, but no 3-seat wagons in '65 although one was run as a 3 seater for a couple of years in Division 5. But NHRA doesn't designate the 2 dr. wagon for '65 as they do for '64. Therefore, I don't believe it's actually a legal combo in NHRA. We used to have about ten '65's in town, and they were licensed as trucks and all owned by the Milwaukee Railroad (back then, Chicago Milwaukee St.Paul & Pacific). I really don't believe any were offered to the general public for sale in '65, and I was told that they were specially built for and delivered to the railroad.

In the early '70's a friend of mine bought one from the railroad and wanted to sell it to me. I inquired about racing it, and was told it was not in the Classification Manual, but I could change the front end to a '64 and run it. It may pass through Glendora today, but it didn't back then.
