Re: my opinion
Don,
Good points.
I'm sorry you feel like that about the touring pro and our unlevel playing field. With that attitude they just have put more over on you and you are beat before going to the lanes.
I get "up" for races with good racers. Try spending some time researching their stats and how the win so much, how they run races. I've had my fair share of runs with these guys. There are a couple of multi championship brothers I have Raced locally for years. How did they win so much? They were smart, worked it like a business, very serious and students of the sport. They also use the intimidation tool. They have also studied you and know more about what you tend to do than you think. Most of the good racers will run their race and let you do something to loose. I think if you get back the deep stage rule that is just one more tool the good racers can use against you. I like deepstaging. I have used it even when I was the fast car. Most racers overlook some of the real advantages of it. Go ahead and give everyone the handicapped pro tree. You might see a few more stick racers. I raced on a handicapped pro tree for years and won my first National event on one. I'm ready for it and deep staging. That won't even any playing field. The only way I see stopping the touring pro is for NHRA to take out all the financial incentives. Make it an amature series. Too late for that. So, when I run into one I'll do everthing I can to screw with their run and not be intimidated by them. Let's leave things alone and race even though it is an interesting discussion topic.
