The L-88 is not the best example. Chevrolet built those cars for the track and did their best to steer them in that direction.

That is absurd. These cars are what you get if you do away with all the stuff that the Feds have mandated over the last 40 years.

A stroke of the pen changed all that. What's basically been the same for more than 40 years get's changed without input from racers or much if any thought to what the long term consequences are. The last time that I looked, a lot of the guys involved in these cars have been Class racing for quite some time.
