Yes, 170 is added. Factory shipping weight/NHRA or factory HP = the weight break for the car, used to determine it's natural class. Using my 2009 DragPack Challenger example from earlier. 3,100 pound shipping weight, divided by NHRA rating of 390 = 7.95. Making it a natural AA/S car (AA = cars with weight/HP of 7.50-7.99). You can adjust weight to a car to 1) move to the top of it's natural class 2) add weight to drop one class from it's natural class 3) remove weight to move up one class from the natural class. To get to the top of AA/SA with a Challenger, 7.5 x 390 + 170 (driver weight) = 3,095 minimum weight, with driver, across the scales as a AA/SA.
