But seriously why not a smaller tire ? or different compound.

Your problem is not unique, I have a very good friend an x baja guy who well VW's are his passion.....he had a 450hp twin turbo motor (2.5 liters I want to say) when he took it out of the car as it was too unpredictable, he went to drag race it with a (2 liter stroker) this has all been 20 years ago so my memory on exaclty which motor I cant remeber.....No torque obviously out of a NA 2.0 bugger. Same thing, he would light it up and wait for the car to catch up to the tires as it were.

The same was also (in the bug and small displacment motor world) seen fairly frequently on VW dragsters in the late 60's early 70's

Id look into tires.....just a thought, maybe it dosent fit your scenario..........tires man ... tires....

You said it yourself, the car needs to spin the tires to leave right....maybe in gearing something could be done....but other than that Tires....? Armor all on your tires before you run....I dont think the next guy donwn the track would like that......lol....about as much as me pumping about 2 gallons of methanol out at the 30-60 and noone knowing it, not even me, next guy had a wild ride (the armor all was a serious joke all who dont have a sense of humor, or dont get mine)
