Floyd how many NHRA div or Nats have you been to that you spend $60 entry and race 1 day for 18k? None $250 entry to win a couple thousands and fight with contigency for the rest and get it if your lucky
How many div or nats have you been to that you had a paid sponsor put on your car because you were racing a div or nat race? none We have had on Pinks, and POA and Passtime companies pay to see there company name on cars TV or at least have a chance to see it on TV understanding the word (possibly see advertisement on TV)
How many people watched your car on TV when you told them you were going to be on Tv at the last Div or Nat event? none Oh thats right you have to be in the final and have Sportman TV coverage show 5 seconds of the 10 second pass
The format at POA may not be S/SS friendly but a few changes could make a couple classes run heads up. ABC could run B weight DEF could run E weight. Its not hard to make a few changes to help level the field.
Your analogy of what it costs to run 10.0 is so far off. I have $9600 in a SBC Monte that runs 10.0's and for $450 more it runs 9.0's on nitrous. The car looks a little rough but at 50 foot you could not tell it from a stock eliminator car. But for another $1000 it could look as good as Fletchers car and I can do it myself. My point is it doesnt matter on the cost. Your looking at having a $60 k car to win a few thousand or 10k car and have a sponsor pay your way to win 18k.$60 grand to go 10.0's you got to be putting your money in the wrong place. Yes I know about SS cars, I have a SS Monte with $35 k in it and only been 62 under. My mistake for trying wrong combo and or vehicle to run faster classes. But another 15K I could go 1 under and sell 62 under motor for $7500. But for what? Bragging rights to whom or to show off to the 10 spectators in the stands. Gary keep up the fight as it is for the good of the sport to try and get it back on the map, because the direction its going is certainly not going to resurrect the class. POA and TV is a great place to rekindle the fire os S/SS.
