Randall,if I'm not mistaken was that they took Wally's engine out of the gremlin and ran it in Maskins car.It supposedly went .15 quicker and 5 mph faster.Also Wally blew out a few back windows at about 149 mph.I've had people tell me about the running backwards thing over the years.
I finally got to speak to Wally last year at the York Reunion and got his autograph for the glove box of my car.A really nice man to speak to,and he is proud of what he accomplished with AMC.On the other hand I've heard that (second hand info)Maskins won't give the time of day to anyone approaching him in conversation about AMCs.
I guess us AMC guys live in a time warp.
