Default Re: Jerico tranmission

It's all about strength and efficiency, that's why you don't see OEM style trans in S/SS classes. Remember, at one time a quick trip to the wrecking yard and $75 - $125 bought you an OEM 4-speed with a 2.20 low gear. Those days are gone.
And let's say you have an inventory of 'em and you want to race with one. First you have to come up with a gear spread that starts with a 2.95 or so low and a 1.20-1.40 third that doesn't drop a ton of RPM on the splits. Almost impossible.
And whatever ratio's you run, you have to modify the heck out of it for strength.
The Viper trans is a long way away from taking a 500 HP engine and a solid hook on a 9" slick although the press release from today could ad some strength. But I seriously doubt it is enough...
A Jerico is around $2800 brand new with gears of your choice, ready to race. Is that too much? If so, let's talk about an auto trans for dedicated S/SS use with a convertor or two (or three or four..)

Attention Street/Strip Enthusiasts

G-Force Transmissions and Long Shifters is pleased to announce some exciting new products to their already vast transmission and shifter lineup. With today's modern street cars it has become relatively easy to bolt on more than enough power to surpass the factory torque/hp ratings of virtually any OEM-style transmission. With this in mind,
G-Force has come up with a wide array of upgrade kits for most of the popular domestic OEM transmissions available today. The kits allow for factory-style installations to eliminate the need for crude and expensive modifications to the tunnels and/or crossmembers on most cars.
New Product Spring 2010

3650 Kit Available in Late Spring 2010

Already available are the T5 and T56 upgrade kits for the Mustangs, Camaros, Vipers, and a host of other vehicles that utilize one of these two transmissions. With thousands of these kits already sold, G-Force has come up with another exceptionally durable gear kit, only this one is for the 3650 transmission that comes in the 2001 to 2010 V8 Mustangs. This is the first aftermarket gear kit offered for this transmission and we've taken the unprecedented step of offering this kit with precision ground gears to help eliminate some of the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) associated with inferior aftermarket gear kits. The gear design is from our proven T56 combination so there is already a vast database of testing experience with this particular design. A 2.90 1st gear is standard on these kits as is a .58 overdrive gear to accommodate for the typically steeper rear gear that most cars run for street/strip applications. Great for launches and even better that stock fuel mileage in most applications. This transmission can also be retrofitted into virtually any other vehicle with the addition of the special adapter that we make for "early-style" installations.
