Re: Live from Atco, NJ ... National Open
We are done for the day, the test tune went well. You could get as many runs as you needed. You pretty much went to the lanes and they pulled you right out. We only had to wait once for about 30 min when a top sportsman car could not slow down and went into the sand trap. The car was a little banged up, but the driver is okay, I don't know his name. It was a yellow cavalier.
It was a weird day weather wise. The air was mostly hovering around 3000 ft. Not much barometer, 29.45 on my last run. The humidity was only 32% and the temp was 87 to 89 most of the day. The wind was a cross tail about 5 to 10 mph and I am sure it helped with the et and mph. My last run the wind hit me pretty hard about the 1100 ft mark, it pushed the car to right more then I would have liked. I would say it was a fast 3000ft. Numbers were not good, but the wind helped.
No records were set as far as I know. Jim Boudreau in B/SA went a 10.29 at 129. The CJ's and Wally's Corvette did not run so well, I guess they are just trying to sort things out. Jim Conte went a 10.45 at 127 in C/SA and Frank Bialas in his Road Runner ran 10.56, not sure of the mph. I think he was in B/SA. I ran pretty well, did some tuning, 9.85 at 135.
I received a special request from Evan Smith for a picture of the boys from New Jersey. I know he misses everyone up here and the same goes for us. John Bender wanted to say hello to his Family visiting Evan down in Tampa, FL. I also get a nice shot of John's car.
The weather is supposed turn much cooler for tomorrow. I will try to get a qualifying sheet for stk and ss.
That's it for today, I will be back in the morning with a weather report before the first time shot.
Side note: Sorry for the not so good pictures, I think I need a new camera. I'm going to give my cell phone camera a try for tomorrow.
