Default Re: Oddball Muscle Cars

Frank-Cola,
The New York State Troopers had the black & white 68' and 69' Fury's.
A handful were 2 doors, all black 'unmarked cars'.
Every two years they went on the auction block. You could pick one up for around $500, at the Poughkeepsie Armory, in 1970.
440/375HP in 3800lb. cars. (10.00 - 10.49 wt/hp).
Fell into G/SA in 1970.
I know you'll laugh, but my friend got one, a 1968 Fury
2-door sedan, with about 50,000 miles on it. The only thing he did was tune it up (w/plugs, wires, points and changed the oil). Not sure of the gears, but I think it was a 3.55 Posi.
Ran it at Dover, and creamed a new 70' Pontiac GTO 400/350 for the 'G/SA' Class Trophy. Ran 14.60's.
Didn't have the 'bubblegum machine' light on the roof, but still head that big monster chrome spot-light mounted on the door.
