Seems like the only ones who "proceve" an advantage to waiting are those who do it.
If someone's really worried about having weather data closer to the time of making the run, then go up early instead of waiting through 50 pairs of cars.
The discussion has nothing to do with a driver's ability -- regardless of which side of the argument a person is on.
I remember a race at Maple Grove in the late '90s when Bob Lang threatened to cancel a Comp session when NONE of them came to the lanes after being called several times. Somehow, they found their way to the staging lanes pretty quick after that!
