The crank was the same between the two motors. There was the S rod motor a very heavy beefy rod, but shorter that the standard 429/460 rod. There was also two styles of boss head; the full hemi chamber (for superspeedways) and the squished chamber.( for the short tracks).

BTW -The 1971 police motor was a 429 CJ.
