It will work with MSD. I ran one back in the early 90s. Make sure the Mallory has been updated. The small cap, original design had a tab that would break and allow the distributor weights to swing way out and rub the housing, and, thus, be way advanced.
You would prob be happier with a MSD distr in that it is virtually zero maintenance.
