The higher the class, the faster the car, the more piles of money invested.

Get a rule book and read it closely then look at the NHRA classification guide and this will give you an idea for a choice of cars.

But, if I was starting over again I would look for a lower class car that is competitive and buy it, it's much cheaper and you can start racing the next day!
