Other than his cage how much work did he do himself ? I dont know, did he build his own motor ? Well we didnt build our first 2 and they went kablooey, the 3rd, I BUILT, and Coated, and Machined, and I went 10.59 FIRST with a 5.7 I was light by 6 flippin lbs, MY scales, and that was what I weighed it on prior at the shop and theirs disagreed.
I think Eric has Done a STAND Up Job and So has roy 10000% PCT And I want him to get the record, thats 100% Fine too, then I will TRY to take it away.

I jumped up and down when I heard Eric ran that, esp after some other things I know about SS etc, JA and Our plans and theirs. Im not saying Eric Im saying the only 3 5.7 cars to field.
I laughed about all the phone calls from other 5.7 builders saying Chris dont do it, dont break the index.....and it wasnt ME.....lol....theyve got a new person to call litterally and spend 3 hrs a day on.....not me, wasnt me.
Eric was the FIRST to get HP added, no question and NOONE can ever take that away. For that he should be PROUD.
I had hoped it would be me, but it wasnt, but I can tip my hat faster than you can sneeze. And do it with sincerity, true sincerity, not for others to see but in my own heart.
We set out to do what they said couldnt be done, we were #24, not buying a cage from Mike P and throwing it in at MR2, we waited quite a bit longer before the Jigs were built, we had time against us. I could build an identical car to OURS in less than 3 weeks now....yes LESS.....Thats one of the reasons we put the MM up for sale, it cost me $6 in PR It got our sponsors over 10k in work from people who saw their decals on the car for sale. ? Failure ? Not close.......But at that price Id build a couple clones.....and so SEE THATS How its DONE......We priced the car OUT of REASON, If there was a taker , wed be happy to take their money, but chances were, you and people like you and WheelsintheDirt would bite like bass to a snake. And you did. And that was "Free Press" Not just here but on 32 different boards for a total of over 1000 Posts.
$$$ Talks BS Walks.....It takes $$$ To Race PERIOD, I privateered bikes for too long to know. I dont think Ill ever go back, there is too much fun here

Poke sticks, it shows me your weak points , every time. I thrive on that, It tells me what a persons insecurities are and what their motivations are. Yeah that much from a single derision.
ME ? I did this for ONE Reason, and one SIMPLE Reason ONLY, My Father, my best friend other than my kids , well he needed me too. THAT is why I did this, and HOW I did it, for that I will Never regret one SINGLE moment of the past 2 years, over 2 years ago they told him he had 6 months to live PERIOD, I joke the DP kept him alive because he ordered it AFTER they told him that. It took another 14 months for it to be "done" and sent to MPR and Mike P an amazing guy, the guy who designed and built most of the chassis kits people use, like MR2.....but my father is still alive. And in GOOD Spirits.......I will never apoligize or regret one moment. I, We and people who know us laugh when there are those who would like us to relish our failures.
What you, and other dont understand is what YOU see as failures, WE see as unique and seldom seen successes in life.
We will keep it coming as long as we can, or care to. And I can say not for myself, but for my father, a man who goes to chemo every other week for 3 years, when you can stand the day after and for the next 13 days for 16 hrs a day, and do it with zest. Well then you can talk **** about him.
For me ? I could care less, as long as I am happy, and I am.
Beyond that, MY Children are learning a life lesson about many things, many I wish children didnt have to. But they are, I hope I am as well loved by my children as my grandfather was by my father, and my father is by me.
Eric may have his OWN Motivations, different things motivate different men, simple, I HOPE I Pray, and I am agnostic, that he finds happiness in his sucesses, as does Roy, I guess that a simple difference between you and I , I see no joy in other mens failures, we all have our own paths, they can all be success to all of us.
Eric Merryfield is well deserved in his glory and tommorow I will call him and wish him well, Roy too. We all in our different ways find glory.
