Re: Question for Ed Wright
I know what he was doing! First time I ran the Spring Nationals there I still had everything in the 9 passenger wagon. I was down to the last 2 cars in class, and a couple of friends were all excited trying to help me get ready. They trimed the tires (7") while I was doing other things. Red Anderson put a rule bok to them just before we pulled out to run for the trophy. (The rule book was 7" long and was often used to check tires), I was OK there, cold tires. They took my picture holding the class tropy, had me move up for fuel check, measured my tires and they were 1/16" over hot. Disqualified me. I got the picture, just no class win. Still have the picture as a reminder.
After that my tires were always 1/8th' under cold. I always learn everything the hard way. My friends felt really bad, but they were as green at that stuff as I. Heck, I was just happy I was fast enough to win class.
Those SureForm body files did make the smoke!
