Vic said, Dodge built a proto-type 68' Dodge Dart GTS with a
340, rated at 335HP, for SS/F in 1968.
It was based upon a 68' GTS (#3264 lbs.) with a fiberglass-hood and deck-lid, to come in at #3200 lbs. even. (9.55 wt/hp break)
Not sure on all the details, but Vic said, Super/Stock springs, 4.88 gears, and supposed (28) 4-speeds and (33) automatics, were in-line for
production in California.
Vic said, he'd dig up engine details. It included an Edelbrock aluminum
DP intake and Holley 780 cfm carburetor.

11.5-1 pistons, with a special O-ringed block deck, shot-peened and magna-fluxed rods.
Special bearings. Hardened cranskshaft. .537 lift/ 310 duration camshaft.
Special valve train components.
Machined cylinder heads with dual-valve springs and teflon seals.
Double roller timing chain. Edelbrock DP intake and 780 cfm Holley.
Hooker Competition Headers
Factory suggested HP rating of 335.
Special distributor and ignition.
Trunk-mounted battery
8 3/4 rear w/4.88 gears and S/S leaf springs.
