One of the tricks was just like we did in stock, figure out a way to run more RPM and still make power. For stock it was valve springs and Shubecks, for super stock it is valve springs, light bottom end (within the rules), re-aligning the push rods, tons of mods on the heads and basically in-line carbs on the intake. I would agree that some may have pushed the limits on the body and chassis but the car still has to weigh a minumum of 3210 ... still impressive to run 8.20's at 160 with a 42 year old car ..

I love to watch the Hemi shootouts, but it has turned into a mega dollar class. You almost have to have your own dyno and engine development to catch up or get ahead. Same thing that happened to top stock, cost way too much and only a few could afford to compete ..
