Default Re: Moroso Front Trick Drag Spring - 66 Impala?

Chevelle and other A body front springs are 3.625" ID vs. 3.812" for the Impala, so I'd rather get the right diameter if possible. I also like to get the spring rate before worring so much about load. You can cut a coil if need be--usually it is best to cut about 3/8 coil from each end so both ends fit completely into the pocket in the frame and A arm, on the old design tangential coils where the pockets are formed for the end of the coil. On A bodies at least, full coil plus 2" more seems best. If need be you can get an aluminum global West spacer to put into the A arm if the coil spring is too short. you seem to get a factor of 2 or 3 meaning a 1/2" spacer will change ride height 1-1.5". Hope this helps.
