Re: Not So Live You Tube video from Earlvillle
Friday was a stiff headwind. Saturday the wind turned around. It was 6 mph gusint to 18 on my wind meter!
The air was over 3000 ft, but the wind was a blowing! Traction was great for stick cars.
The stocker turnout was great TriState in Earlville does a great job taking care of racers. They had a racer BBQ dinner Friday night and have great food every day, great showers, camping hookups in the camp ground too!
You know the track is sloped down hill as much as possible in spec and the staging lanes are downhill also. Of course, the famous West Wind helps most of the time too.
This is a great one to go to and word is spreading. They have a great S/SS combo during Indy weekend and many go there from Indy if they have an early exit or cannot go, then leave their trailers for the points meet.
Plenty of room for more, this is a great one to plan for.
Some observations from Earlville! A shout out is to Brad Zaskowski! He is there sleeping in a tent next to his racecar like a modern day Cowboy! I love that! Some of the younger racers won't come out unless everything else is handled by their parents, etc. It is good to see some of the racers out there and race no matter what it takes!Go get em Brad!
Heads up runs! Big upset in Round 1! Brett Speer over Justin Blondell!
Brett definately wanted it more. While the much quicker and faster Blondell casually rolled into the lanes, Speer's car was loaded for bear! The engine compartment was packed with ice and I think they pushed it from Dubuque! Speer had a better light and picked up enough to squeak by! That is WHY heads up runs are still a GREAT part of Class racing in the eliminator!
John Becker and Jack Larson Turbo Stick Neon vs. V stick 6 cyl Comet. John at 70 +++ years young ran righ t on, but Jack had the better RT and the win!
The OH NO! Award goes to HK Newstrom. The wind was blowing and he took off with Johnson's BBF Mustang C/SA in hot pursuit! Well that's what he thought. While Johnson spun and headed for the wall, HK put his foot down and no doubt expected a Mustang that never came. HK broke out by .08 while Johnson watched his 19 second run pop the win light in his lane!
Should be some more great racing today! Jim.
