Re: Noble Weather ?
From DRC
NOBLE, Okla. - 11:30 a.m. - It's still wet and gloomy at Thunder Valley Raceway. The rain has stopped several times, but not for long.
As recently as Thursday, weather forecasts showed rain Friday, but only a slight chance of rain today and even less on Sunday.
The likelihoof of rain Friday kept increasing, then they started raising the likelihood of rain today, and now the weather forecasts are pushing the end of the rain out to later in the day today. However, even if it stopped right now we wouldn't get much racing in before fog and dew shut things down this evening.
This is the last Division 4 race of the year and many of the racers are already entered in the Las Vegas race next weekend (not to mention the Oklohoma University football home game, also next weekend). With those facts as "given," this race must be completed this weekend, even if it means racing on Monday in order to finish.
Another concern is for those Sportsman categories parked "beyond the pavement."
Those cars are safe and dry inside their trailers now, but the unpaved parking areas are saturated and will turn into mud bogs if the cars move to the lanes and back to their trailers a few times.
In order to prevent that from happening, the race may be run in two segments: first, the categories parked on the pavement; then clear them out and move the others onto the pavement so they can race.
That's not the way anyone wanted to run this race, but sometimes Mother Nature eliminates all the attractive options.
No schedule changes yet; no need for those until it actually stops raining and the weather "freight train" moves east of here. For now, it's still "wait and see."
