Most of the people protecting their combination are not dumping at 1000'. The guys dumping at 1000' are working the ladder, either looking for a bye, looking for a heads up, or looking to avoid one. They may also be looking to race a particular person, or avoid a particular person.

Guys protecting the combination are doing a ton of things you'll never see. You will not find it all at the scales either, regardless of what people might tell you. Those who think keeping people from running heavier than the minimum of the next lower class will stop sandbagging do not know how to play the game.
