I believe so. It was back when he was winning championships and races all over the country in multiple categories including Super Street. Since Super Street is suppose to be entry level. I guess they felt traveling pro sportsmen shouldn't be allowed to run in it.

Since Super Street can't win a national championship, it seems like overkill to also disallow people from entering Super Street as well as some other category.
