Default Re: With PINKS ALL OUT gone...how about this!

Well, the only way you'd have no cheating is if you gave people complete cars. By installing an engine in somebody else's car, I can guarantee you that people would still find ways to cheat with their particular setup (e.g. hidden electronics).

I do love the idea of a level playing field where the best driver wins, ala the IROC series. That's the only real way that I could see something like this would fly. But, now the cost just went up because now you'd need to supply complete cars. NHRA used to have something like this when they had Oldsmobile (I think) provide them with 8 completely stock vehicles and then have people race against each other. But, was about as exciting as watching grass grow because nobody wants to watch people race cars that run 18 second quarter mile times.

I don't know if Hawley or Hill has enough identical cars, but pitting 8 guys against each other in a competition like this would be entertaining to watch. It would be particularly entertaining to have it be an all-star race with some of the best drivers in the country.

So, for episode 1, I'm thinking Peter & Sal Biondo, Dan Fletcher, Scotty & Edmond Richardson, Greg Stanfield, Mike Edwards, and of course, me.

Of course, what I've just defined is in essence Super Comp, as isn't everybody in S/C just driving identical Undercover dragsters with a Huntsville Racing engine and Powerglide transmission?
