Default Re: GT question

Use the shipping weight as published by NHRA in the classification guide (not the engine guide). You will use the shipping weight of the lightest V-8 available. Note: the classification guide has shipping weights listed on the far right of the scree. Use your scroll bar & push it to the right.

Note there are different weights for different models. For example. The base Maverick V-8 is different than the Maverick GT. I was looking at a '64 289 / 225 / 215 engine in a base '70 Maverick last night ('71 was first year V-8 Maverick). You could also install a '85 302 engine in it (or a 351 or anything else for that matter). The SS/GT class makes for interesting combos now that NHRA has opened the class to all vehicle platforms listed in the Class Guide. Previously it was only 1980 and newer platforms.

This applies to all SS/GT RWD platforms which are listed in the Class guide. If your platform is not listed in the Class Guide, no-can-do.
And we are talking traditional SS engines, not the modified SS engines which you see with non OEM hood scoops.

FWD conversions to RWD is another issue.
