Mr Ed: I personally bought two cars years ago at a Barrett-Jackson auction. Way back before there "ringers" were in on the bidding and driving the prices of these cars to outrageous numbers. There were allegations of this, but I don't know if they ever proved it. I watched a friend of mine bid and pay for a Shelby GT 500 drop top, and I thought he was freakin' insane to pay what he paid for that car. But, you are correct, in that now because of these auctions that every Mom and Pop that has one sittin' in their barn thinks it's worth a fortune.
