His gas-powered dragster won Top Eliminator in a race in Florida and was reported on in a Hot Rod magazine I had in 1956.... 108 MPH.... It was powered ny a Ford flathead.
The story goes, he took the 331 Hemi out of his tow car ( a '40 Ford coupe) and put in the rail, (in place of the flathead) and it was quicker and faster... and, a legend was born!
