There's no reason why cars can't be laddered 1st round, and with a "Re-Entry"-style buyback program, buybacks race each other in a separate round BEFORE 2nd round, with only the winners advancing to Rnd 2. (ie., if you have 80 cars, 40 lose 1st round, if 50% of the losers (20) pay to Re-Enter, only 10 advance to Rnd 2, so Rnd 2 would have a total of 50 cars) Everyone has to EARN a round to go into 2nd round. There's no reason to not have another ladder generated for 2nd round, which would take us through to the end.

I'm a bracket racer that runs S/SS. I would prefer to keep S/SS events of any kind with no buybacks, HOWEVER, you have someone putting on a $200 entry for $5,000 to win GUARANTEED purse... with the track record of support that racers have been (not) showing, it's hard to blame them. Personally, I'd like to see a car count minimum on it saying "No buybacks if over XX cars", but hey, it's a trial run.

It's probably also worth pointing out that if S/SS racers are so adamantly against buybacks, then nobody will buy back, so it will become a no buyback race by definition. It's like saying you don't like cheese, so you won't go to a hamburger joint that offers cheeseburgers. Uh, just get the hamburger then.

On the class run offs, that is a dead issue with IHRA.
I begged, pleaded, and even demanded of Mike Baker that we race for class and he flat won't change his mind. Says there are not enough cars showing up to warrant the time.
If there are not enough cars, it would stand to reason that it wouldn't take much time to run it. Just my opinion.

How long would it take to pick out the re-entrys from the original q- sheet and make a re-entry ladder ? Problem solved..
The only issue I can see is someone not wanting to Re-Enter if they think they MIGHT have a heads-up, but have no way of knowing until well after they've bought back, and people wouldn't have time to prepare accordingly. I don't have a problem with it either way (ladder or random for the Re-Entry round), but someone in a populated class might.

You are still paying the same entry you would otherwise and running for 5 times more money.
Chip, you don't have a Stocker anymore, therefore your math must not be right! j/k You and your facts!
