Re: Pictures from the NMCA race in Joliet
NSS rules state the hood scoop can be 5 inches tall. I agree Im not crazy about it but there are really not that many 5 inch scoops in NSS. I use a standard Hemi scoop on my 64 Plymouth and I have plenty of room for my carbs. At NHRA races of few of you guys ask about NSS racing. It is lots of fun like NHRA racing. Got some cool cars, nice people to race with. The expense of this type of racing is lower. The cost is directly related to how fast do you want to go. NMCA events run alot like NHRA points meets running Friday-Sunday. We get 3-4 qualifiers and race Sunday morning. NMCA pays NSS racers a $1000 to win and has a fair amount of contingency sponsors paying $150 a sticker. I understand NHRA racing is the major league in racing but when I hit the throttle on my DragnWagn and do a nice wheelie, shift through the gears and and cross the finish line and my win light is I on Ive got the same smile on my face as I would at any NHRA event. To me that what racing is all about having fun with nice people.
See ya at the track, Doug Duell
