Default Re: Valve Leakage Check?

If you have them off Go ahead and face the valves. Every new set of E heads I get in the shop I face the valves. (for flow cut a small back angle on the intake) Very few of the new valves have acceptable runout. The face angles are always a little off. The seats always seem to be ok and don't need attention. If the heads are used do a good valve job on the seats. The heat cycles on new alum. heads always causes alittle movement in the seats. It is just normal and one of those things that happens to new alum heads. It is a bummer to have to face valves on brand new heads, but it is more of a bummer to put new heads on an engine that are leakers. It is just Std procedure, whether I furnish the new heads or the customer does.
