He prefered an automatic trans car after loosing a couple of toes in a clutch explosion racing a 1962 Corvette prior to racing the Comets. One thing I remember was he had Stahl Headers and had candy stripes painted on the long collectors exiting under the doors. They had a sound all of their own.

Hey Terry, Sorry we didn't get to bs a little more at MIR just too much going on. Might see you at one of the assoc. races this winter. --------A little Gene Collins story----For some reason he made it a point to constantly complain about my 66 W30 Post sedan. Seemed like every week I was being looked at and harrassed about everything from the air cleaner to the rear end. And to make it worse his wife (boy was she HOT! ) handed out et slips at Aquasco. Funny thing, I parked up on the hill and played cards with Perzan, Samuels, Johnny Walker, Buggs Terry and the crew. If one of them knocked off Gene she didn't say a word but when it was me world war three broke out. I got my revenge though. He took the Mustang to Daytona in 67 to defend his 66 win. I made a home made tow bar and drug that 442 to Daytona followed him to staging and wore his a## out. Then went on to win the whole thing. Revenge is so sweet. ( Did I say his wife was HOT!! ?)
