I used to think the same way,but I have some seen some pretty bizarre things happen lately.Just this year in Bowling Green at the points race,my mom was down over 3 tenths and the faster car rolled the beams.
So many things can happen.Redlight,spin,crash,cross centerline,break,oil leak,fail fuel check,weigh TOO much or too little.
I used to not even bother showing up in these types of races.
I think it would be quite foolish to win the round and then get disqualified for weight.
