As Terry said, a CE stamping is an 'over the parts counter' replacement motor.

No way externally to tell a 230 from a 250 as they used the same blocks and the same heads. From what Billy said about the pulleys you might can tell what the original engine was.

I never noticed that single pulleys came on 230's and double pulleys came on 250's. I always thought it was if the car originally had power steering or A/C that deterimed the difference in pulleys.
