Default Re: Index auto trans bell-housing

Did do it as a matter of procedure but unless the trans case was involved in a catastrophe explosion I never found one that was out of centerline by more than .009" and that was usually at the back of a line bored block. In a vehicle that keeps cracking converter necks I might suspect that as a cause but I usually found the actual welding process or a ballooned converter was the culprit for that. (Besides, that's why they call it a flex plate) It's probably not a horrible procedure to include in the build process but in reality it probably is an extra 15 minutes that isn't show any problem. 10 to15 minutes to eliminate/discover a potential problem? Your call as to include it or not but in my opinion it's one less unknown in the initial build if done.
