Joe, you don't have the facts of the situation. The run happened after 11PM and they starting line crew had taken the dial in boxes down. There was a low lying fog that made it almost impossible to even see the finish line scoreboards. According to the NHRA rule book the tower is responsible for the input of a competitors class index, if the competitor dials under he is responsible for making sure the dial in is clearly visible for the tower.
Both competitors assumed the tower was doing their job, they were wrong, the NHRA officials agreed based on written rules and there was a rerun. Art red lighted and the rest is history. Those are the facts. You apparently need to read YOUR rule book before giving advice sir. NHRA made the right decision. Jim
