Here are some updates from the Drivers Meeting. The main topic of discussion was getting racers to race in the series. Many ideas were discussed and changes were made. The biggest change was guaranteeing $1000 to win with a car count of 20 cars. With the old payout schedule 28 cars were required to pay $1000 to the winner. With the new payout schedule, after 28 cars the winners payout increases, for example, at 40 cars they pay $1350 to win, 675 to runner-up, 5th round loser $250, 4th round loser$175,3rd round loser125, and 2nd round loser 75. Since the average car count was in the low to mid 20's last year, that pretty much means that every race will be $1000 to win. The schedule was finalized and the race dates are listed on www.midwestsupercomp.com . SInce this is a social media world, it was suggested that the website gets updated quicker. Also facebook pages and other social sites out there will get used more , to get information about MWSC out to the racers faster. We would like to add a topic section to this site, like the other .90 organizations have done. We had discussed the direction of where the series should go in the future. I have been lobbying to keep the series, more "local" where it has been for the last 25 years, and others have suggested we go to other tracks expand our racer base. I suggested some type survey of 8.90 racers in the Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and close by to see what it would take to either get them to travel to our races or to get more than just a handful of new racers to make it worth the trip to go to one of their local tracks. I know there are a lot of 8.90 racers out there. I know some have tried the MWSC but never attended anymore of our races, or other racers who have raced with us but have left us. I am asking for your input, either in PM's or publically, whichever is more comfortable for you, what it would take to get YOU to participate in our events. We have been going for 25 years and would love to have at least 25 more years. Any suggestion will be welcome.

Payout: Either in round money or winners share?

Schedule: too many races, not enough, conflicts with other schedules?

Lack of info available about our series?

Tracks: too many different tracks, not enough, dont like the tracks we go to now?

Contingencies:more needed?, not enough info available about the ones we have?

Exposure: Do we need to do more to honor the winner and runner-up in regards to coverage either online, or print, such as in ND?

Wally: Do we have to provide a "Wally" for a racer to race our events. On this line, I suggested a Wally race as part of our 25th year and the board talked to BJ at Byron and tried to make it happen as part of one of their wally races, but he couldnt make it happen.

Racers and/or boardmembers: Is there any type of personality conflict that causes you not to race with us?

Perceived level of competition: too low, too high?

2 cars: Do we need to try to combine with some type of S/G series, T/D, or bracket race to give people the opportunity to run 2 cars, or give more races in weekend?

Maybe it is nothing we can change ie: fuel prices, economy,whatever keeps you from racing with us. I would like to know that too.

I know this post was a little long, but I really would appreciate ANY input good or bad, that my fellow racers can provide. If it is a criticism that singles out someone,track or anything else that would derail this thread, I would appreciate it if that info was sent to me privately. I will make sure your comment is addressed. Thanks for you time.
