Default Re: afco spring sliders

Jeff

The side brackets with the slots that the springs were supposed to slide in were made from thin mild steel. The bolt through the spring was a 1/2 inch bolt with a thin wall mild steel sleeve that was supposed to roll on the bolt. The sleeve wore a groove in the slot and the slot wore a groove in the sleeve. So it actually was in a bind. I think the ones I had were either moroso or SRD. I guess if you made your own with a thicker bracket with the slot and made the slot wider where you could use an actual roller bearing it would be a good system. Maybe make the side bracket from some 1/2 inch aluminum plate with the slot milled in to match the diameter of a roller bearing. Then you would have something.
