I don't think it's spelled out anywhere in bracket racing rules, but you probably could get away with it.
If you 're talking about a Stocker however, the rules go by what class, rather than what ET.
NHRA, in it's infinite wisdom , has a roll bar required in 12.85 Stockers.

I questioned that a few times, and all I got was "huh? ,what? duh?
