I went from an old early 7-AL to the digital -6 and believe I picked up a little. It has built in start retard and best of all it uses rotating pots to set rev- limiters, both top end and launch so you don't have to mess with all the chips. If I remember correctly it has a lower minimum voltage than the others to function correctly.
Personally I like it and have had several other change over.

P.S. The 6 is non programmable which make it legal.
