Try more air pressure as well... I've run into spinning problems by having tires too low, just as much as by having too much in them! I have run as much as 27psi in an M/T 9x28" BIAS PLY, on my Duster! Granted, that car has no gear and converter, but still, don't be afraid to at least experiment with higher air pressure, even in a bias ply. I've had the 9x28 bias plys on Terry's Dart Sport up to 20psi as well.
