There is nothing wrong with regular hydrallic lifter for what you are doing. Keep it very simple, like it was mentioned here. As long as you do not go over 350 open pressure, a standard lifter will work well for you.
Like Billy said, you are going to be running this engine under or around 6000. Make a bunch of cylinder pressure and torque. Good luck, and enjoy the ride!
