Default Re: 1965 New Cars and NHRA Classes

1965 Chevelle

* 300......................(2-Door Sedan or 2-Door Station Wagon)
* 300 Deluxe.........(2-Door Sedan or 4-Door Station Wagon)
* Malibu.................(2-Door Sport Coupe, Convertible or 4-Door Station Wagon)
* Malibu SS...........(2-Door Sport Coupe or Convertible)

Available with,
* 283/195 HP (2-Barrel)
* 283/220 HP
* 327/250 HP
* 327/300 HP
* 327/350 HP
* 396/375 HP (Z-16)

3-Speed Manual or 4-Speed Manual
2-Speed Powerglide

* A typical 1965 Malibu (#3062 lbs.) with a 327/250 HP 4-Speed in 1965 would fall into E/Stock (11.89 - 12.49 Wt/Hp).
* In 1968, they were classed in I/Stock (12.00 - 12.49 Wt/Hp).

* Though the 'slightly' heavier Malibu 'convertible' 327/250 HP 4-Speed would fit nicely into F/Stock (12.50 -13.99 Wt/Hp).
* In 1968, they were classed in J/Stock (12.50 - 12.99 Wt/Hp).

The Malibu 327/250 HP was desired for the drag strip over the Malibu SS 327/250 HP, as the basic 1965 Malibu weighed
approximately 62 lbs. less than the 1965 Malibu SS.
