Dyno testing and in car testing is required here Phil. There is no one answer. I know we did both and had sveral 283s in different cars. The timing needs varied. Maybe the cams being different was the key. Some needed different timing depending upon the car it went in. Our Nova, a chevelle or a biscayne. You could get ten responses, ten answers. They might be right for the car they are talking about and do nothing for yours.

Too many people think dyno testing is costly, but it can save some money. Just spending time chasing jet and timing etc., can be a real eye opener.
