This really has to be one of the things a person has to look at when they wanting to build a class specific car. The cost to run any combination varies and a person needs to figure out a budget on what they can afford to run a car competitively in his or her class. Especially if they want to run a full season. This will actually help dictate what combo/class a person runs.

It is usually one of the last things a person thinks about though unfortunately. Building A car and buying A part ONE time isn't the expensive part. It's buying mulitiple parts for breakage, testing, spares and travel, lodging, entry fees, and maintenance items that are the real budget killer. Weird to say budget and racing in the same sentence LOL.

I always heard:
"You end up with a small fortune in dragracing by starting out with a big one."
and "A boat is a hole in the water that you throw buckets of money into."
