Some people have motorhome and/or trailer payments, cost of fuel to get to the track, wear and tear on the equipment, maintainance, entries, race fuel, tires, crew expences, etc. So anyone that thinks that it only costs 30 to 40 dollars per run is fooling themselves.

this is what it cost me to race @ reading for two weekends last Oct.
race fuel $200.00
diesel $1000.00 (3200 KM)
two races $450.00 fee
new slicks $450.00
beer $200.00 for two people for 10 days @ .60 a beer
Off work $2000.00
food $0 have to eat anyways
crap $400.00.
went 11 rounds over the two weekends(not including TT and class)
$427.27 a round
.also does not including $80,000 for the truck and trailer or insurance. $30,000 for the car,$10,000 for a spare motor.
to race local it would cost
fuel 30 don't use race fuel (car is faster with street gas)
diesel 150
fee 60 plus 20 for a gamblers race
tires 30
beer 30
off work 0
food 0
crap 50
If I went a 11 round over the weekend,it would cost me $33.64(not including TT)
also does not including $80,000 for the truck and trailer or insurance. $30,000 for the car,$10,000 for a spare motor and much,much more crap.
